Every month, Netflix treats us to new content, whether it’s original series like Stranger Things or programming from other platforms Sex and the City.

This May, they’re serving up a Tina Fey dramedy, a K-drama, and an animated epic, to name just a few.

Here are a few of the new shows on Netflix you shouldn’t miss in May 2025.

‘The Four Seasons’ (May 1)

This new dramedy from Tina Fey is a remake of the 1981 Alan Alda movie of the same name. In both the new and original versions, four couples have a tradition of going on quarterly vacations together — but the routine is thrown out of balance when one of them (Steve Carell in this reboot) announces he’s leaving his wife (Kerri Kenney-Silver, Reno 911!).

This highly anticipated comedy also stars Fey’s fellow SNL alum Will Forte and Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo. (Plus a cameo from Alda himself, of course.) It’s an ensemble story about love, marriage and friendship that’s worthy of its star-studded cast. Whether you’re in mid-life or your mid-twenties, you’ll find something to love about this series.

‘Forever’ (May 8)

Judy Blume’s beloved novel about two teenagers falling in love for the first time is getting reimagined in this new series. Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends, Moesha) is the main creative force behind this modernized version of the story, which is set in Los Angeles in 2018. Forever has often been the subject of controversy because of its frank depiction of sexuality between the two teenage leads. It will be fascinating to see how Akil adapts the 1975 book for its new modern setting.

What’s New on Netflix in May 2025

The two young leads are appropriately played by some fresh faces — Lovie Simone (Greenleaf) stars as Keisha (a reimagined version of the book’s Katherine) and newcomer Michael Cooper Jr. plays Justin (named Michael in the original book). The trailer promises a dreamy, romantic series with all the emotional depth and nuance Blume is known and loved for.

‘Blood of Zeus’ Season 3 (May 8)

The final season of Netflix’s Greek mythology anime series will drop on May 8. Blood of Zeus follows Heron (Derek Phillips, Friday Night Lights), a demigod and son of Zeus. The series combines classic Greek mythology with new twists, such as flesh-eating demons and a war between the gods.

At the end of season 2, Gaia (the mother of all gods) released the ancient entity known as Typhon, leaving all the gods — as well as the humans and even the spirits in the underworld — in grave danger. Can Heron and his companions save the world? Find out in this wholly original interpretation of ancient Greek myths.

‘Big Mouth’ Season 8 (May 23)

Blood of Zeus isn’t the only Netflix animated series whose final season will premiere in May, but Big Mouth couldn’t be more different from the tense, dramatic mythology show. It’s Netflix’s longest-running scripted show, if you can believe that, and follows Nick (Nick Kroll), Andrew (John Mulaney), Jessi (Jessi Klein), Jay (Jason Mantzoukas), Missy (Ayo Edebiri) and the rest of their friends as they face puberty with their trusty Hormone Monsters (Kroll and Maya Rudolph) and a wide variety of crazy creatures by their side.

At the end of season 7, the main cast graduated from Middle School, meaning high school is on the horizon as the series comes to an end. It’s sure to be jam-packed with celebrity cameos (past episodes have featured Seth Rogen, Wanda Sykes and Hugh Jackman), bizarre personifications of genitals and surprisingly moving moments about growing up. Here’s hoping that the series sticks the landing.

‘Sirens’ (May 25)

This sexy, dark comedy boasts a talented cast of stellar actresses and promises to explore women’s sexuality, class and power. Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus, The Bold Type) plays Devon, who is concerned about her sister Simone’s (Milly Alcock, House of the Dragon) creepy relationship with her new boss and decides it’s time for an intervention. Kevin Bacon and Julianne Moore play the boss and his wife, respectively.

5 Best New Shows on Netflix in April 2025

Sirens is based on a play by Molly Smith Metzler, who also cowrote and produced the popular Netflix series Maid. We expect plenty of soapy romance, family dysfunction and juicy conflict from Sirens.
