Floribama Shore alum Kirk Medas has been hospitalized with a “severe” case of necrotizing pancreatitis.
“Our friend Kirk has been in the ICU for over two weeks now,” fellow Floribama Shore personality Aimee Elizabeth Hall wrote via Instagram on Thursday, May 1, sharing a hospital photo of her 33-year-old costar. “He’s currently on a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious.”
She added, “Nilsa [Prowant] has been flying back and forth to Miami to be by his side, and I’ve been lucky enough to stay connected through FaceTime with his roommates and close friends who’ve been keeping us updated daily.”
In her own social media post on Thursday, Prowant, 31, revealed that Medas was first hospitalized “two Fridays ago.” (According to the Cleveland Clinic, necrotizing pancreatitis occurs when severe pancreatitis inflammation causes tissue death.)

“He’s been in the ICU for about two weeks now, and he’s gonna have a long road to recovery,” Prowant said in a video posted to her account. “So, his mom asked me to share this video because she did start a GoFundMe page for him and for his medical bills and for his rehabilitation after he gets out of the ICU. Everything that gets donated goes directly to his medical bills and his recovery.”
Prowant further noted that visiting Medas in the hospital was “one of the hardest things in [her] life.”
“You know how close me and Kirk are. He’s been there for me for the past eight years of my life [when] I had Gray, my baby shower, my wedding,” she added. “He walked my mom down the aisle. I love Kirk so much, and I love his family so much. I just flew down there because I would want someone to do the same for me if it was my son.”
Prowant also pledged to donate “whatever [she] makes from this post” during this next month to Medas’ recovery fundraiser.

“We’re not going to give too many details,” Prowant continued. “When I saw him, it was one of the hardest things I’ve seen in my life, next to seeing my dad in the same situation. So, please pray for him. He’s going to pull through. … I’m, like, shaking because this is one of toughest things that I’ve had to go through [and] seeing someone who’s like my brother, like, fighting.”
A GoFundMe campaign, set up by Medas’ relatives, has already raised $18,000 at the time of publication.
“He is sedated and this could take some time to heal. We are praying that he has a full recovery but this process could take some time,” the fundraiser description reads. “The donation will help for medical bills and rehab. He has no medical insurance so your donations will be greatly appreciated. Please continue to uplift Kirk in your prayers.”
