Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s girlfriend has released an email from him after a recent interview where she shut down questions about how they met.
Jordon Hudson, a 24-year-old daughter of a Maine fisherman, released a copy of the email Tuesday on her Instagram account, where she teased about a coming “full statement.”
Belichick has been promoting his new book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.” In a recent interview on “CBS Mornings,” the questions veered from Belchick’s book to how the 73-year-old and Hudson met.
At this point, Hudson, who was off screen, interrupted, saying, “We’re not talking about this.”
In the email, sent on the morning of April 10, Belichick lamented how early media coverage honed in on his admission of mistakes during his career, calling it “click bait.”
“I acknowledge the mistakes in the book, but of course, ‘I f***ed up’ in the catchphrase,” he wrote.
Instead, Belichick said that he wanted to focus on his accomplishments and what he learned over his lengthy career.
“I want this book to be presented as a look at my professional life and how I did my job on the way up, and as the leader of an organization that grew from a $500 m franchise to an $8 b organization that played in 10 and won 6 Super Bowls over 25 years,” he wrote.
But perhaps what may shed light on the relevance of this email and what went down during the CBS interview is in its final lines.
“I am not going to be the conductor of a hype train in the book promotion – we have enough hype to work with,” Belichick said in the email.
Hudson and Belichick met on a flight in 2021 and began dating in 2022. They moved in together last year. A source close to Belichick told Page Six that they have “definitely discussed marriage.”
Belichick started his NFL career in 1975 as an assistant for the Baltimore Colts, 26 years before Hudson was born in April 2001. Belichick won his first Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2002. Belichick attended an NFL Honors event in February with Hudson.
Belichick is now coaching at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he’s signed a five-year contract worth $10 million annually to bring him on as head coach. The contract also includes $3.5 million in bonuses.
It was revealed earlier this year that Belichick asked the university’s public relations team to copy Hudson on emails to him related to social media.
Hudson, a Miss Maine USA finalist, is making another go for the crown this year.
