A woman has died in a skydiving incident in County Durham.

Emergency crews were called to Wreford’s Farm in Shotton Colliery, near Peterlee, at around 10.30am on Sunday.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.

The former mining village of Shotton Colliery has a population of nearly 5,000, according to the latest Census.

Wreford’s Farm is a “small, family run farm” which produces pork and beef using “regenerative agriculture”, according to its website.
