Maine lawmakers pitched a costly compromise on property taxes. The bipartisan proposal to increase the maximum property tax fairness credit may struggle to get funding from an already tight state budget.

Maine and other states sued the Trump administration to stop its tariff policy. The lawsuit said the president’s policy has been subject to his “whims rather than the sound exercise of lawful authority.”

A new poll found Mainers split on President Donald Trump and expect a recession. The University of New Hampshire surveyed 911 Mainers between April 17-21 and released the results Wednesday.

More than 500 cars were towed under Bangor’s new winter parking policy. For the first time this winter, drivers could park on the street during the day and overnight, except when the city issued a parking ban.

A new project in Blue Hill is offering space for tiny homes and farming. Angela Faneuf, the developer, sees the village as potentially helping other social challenges, such as child care shortages and aging and isolation.
