
A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday afternoon when he collided with an SUV in Auburn.
Christian Mathieu, 20, of Auburn was riding a 2024 Honda CBR600 motorcycle north on Center Street about 4:32 p.m. when he collided with a 2023 Honda CRV driven by 75-year-old Stephen Telow of Lewiston, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Telow told police that he didn’t see Mathieu as he pulled out of a parking lot into Center Street’s travel lane.
Mathieu, who was wearing a helmet, was seriously injured, but his injuries aren’t considered life-threatening. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Telow wasn’t seriously injured in the crash.
Police said that Mathieu wasn’t licensed to ride a motorcycle. Charges are being considered.
The crash remains under investigation.
