A southern Maine man was charged with attempted murder Saturday after he allegedly fired a handgun during an argument with another person.
Steven Henry, 57, of Limerick got into the altercation after allegedly doing a burnout in his pickup truck near the home of the other person, who lives on Prokey Drive, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. The owner of the Limerick home then came out to talk with him, and it turned into an argument.
Henry also allegedly fled in his maroon Nissan Titan truck when police responded to the reported gunfire at around 3:15 p.m., but he was found and arrested later by the Maine State Police in Limington. A passenger in his truck was also detained, but has not been charged and was not present during the shooting, Moss said.
A police dog helped to find the handgun, which Henry had allegedly abandoned about 40 yards away from his truck, which police found on Shaving Hill Road in Limington, according to Moss.
In addition to attempted murder, Henry was also charged with reckless conduct with a firearm and discharge of a firearm near a dwelling. He was taken to the York County Jail without incident.
A Maine game warden also assisted with the investigation.
