Addressing the April 8 BDN headline “$61M in federal funding to Maine at risk over Trump’s latest DEI mandate,” the letter from the Trump administration states schools receive financial assistance under the condition of obeying the civil rights laws and that DEI practices violate federal law because, it says, they “advantage one’s race over another.” I would suggest that what President Donald Trump has done in eliminating DEI practices, all DEI practices, by itself violates federal civil rights laws because it gives an advantage to white people over any other race. So that in itself is a violation of civil rights of all those who are not white!
Am I missing something here? His administration has been systematically scrubbing all mention of Black Americans, women, Native Americans, etc. in all federal documents, removing pictures, even poking into the Smithsonian, for heaven’s sake!
In what world is this necessary? How can this be stopped? It needs to be done.
