It should be abundantly clear by now that we have what I view as a madman — a dictator — in the White House.
Donald Trump’s recent tariff policy is not about the resurrection of U.S. manufacturing or any of his other stated goals. Rather, I believe the sweeping tariffs are about Donald Trump declaring a global economic war as a means to retaliate against the world for his warped, narcissistic perception of personal grievances. His worldwide tariffs are making the United States a pariah in the world.
This is not hyperbole. One of the most common characteristics of past and present dictators is their narcissistic sense of self-importance and exaggerated views of their personal abilities.
It is pure fantasy to believe that tariffs, in our interdependent global economy, will lead to greater national economic prosperity. Like so many leaders who were, and are, narcissistic madmen, I believe Trump, if not stopped, will lead our nation to economic ruin. He will, if he has not already, destroy our democratic institutions by his, and his conspirators,’ unlawful and unconstitutional actions.
For those who care about our country and our democratic institutions, which protect our freedoms from the abuses of an unchecked madman in the White House, we must become engaged citizens. In order to save our nation from Trump and his allies, who appear on a path to destroy our constitutional republic, we must hold our elected officials accountable. In upcoming elections — at every level — local, state, and federal, we must hold all elected officials accountable to either protect our constitutional rights and freedoms, or vote them out of office.
Failure to do this is no longer an option if we want to preserve our country, for ourselves and for future generations.
