
A logging truck was engulfed in flames Wednesday afternoon after colliding with an SUV in Chelsea.
Larry Bartlett, 71, of Washington was driving a 2022 Kenworth logging truck on Togus Road about 4:06 p.m. when a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz driven by 46-year-old Amanda Meader of Chelsea crossed the center line into his path, according to Lt. J. Chris Read of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the logging truck was engulfed in flames, Read said Thursday morning.
Meader and her passenger, 61-year-old Preston L. York of Chelsea, were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Bartlett was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, where his blood was tested, as is standard procedure for these types of crashes, according to Read.
The investigation is ongoing.
