The Handmaid’s Tale cast is just as curious about how the show ends after not being “allowed” to see the finale yet.

During The Handmaid’s Tale red carpet event on Wednesday, April 2, several cast members exclusively told Us Weekly that they weren’t “allowed” to see the show’s finale, so they don’t know what to expect from the Hulu show’s sixth and final season.

Kristen Gutoskie, who played Beth, told Us she knows “nothing,” adding, “It’s all a mystery. We’re gonna all be watching it at the same time.” Samira Wiley has played Moira since the series premiered but also has “not seen a thing” yet.

The same went for Timothy Simons, who has a mystery role in the show’s upcoming season. “I haven’t read it. I wasn’t allowed to read it,” he revealed. “I haven’t seen it.”

Everything ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Cast Said About the Show Ending

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale takes place in a dystopian future where low fertility rates have resulted in women being forcefully assigned to men for the sole purpose of bearing children. In addition to Wiley, Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella and Amanda Brugel have led the cast since the show’s premiere.

The Handmaid’s Tale is wrapping up, with season 6 premiering on Tuesday, April 8, but the universe continues to grow. Atwood’s 2019 novel The Testaments is a spinoff that Hulu has already ordered to series.

“There are people who return and the same thing in the Testaments. We’re gonna bring characters from The Handmaid’s Tale to that world as well,” creator Bruce Miller teased while speaking with Us. “So there are people who show up — but to tell you who they are will take away all the fun.”

According to Miller, there will be some surprises as The Handmaid’s Tale transitions to The Testaments.

“I hope [the audience has] questions when the show ends. I think this book is way too complicated to tie up neatly, and when I read the book I had a million questions at the end,” he added. “So I hope if we’re doing justice to the story we told in the book, certainly you’ll have questions at the end.”

Which ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Characters Are — and Aren’t — Returning for Season 6

Executive producer Warren Littlefield called the show’s finale “really satisfying,” sharing, “Living in the world of Gilead for our audience is sometimes a tough journey. But I think their patience will be rewarded because this final year is ordinary women doing extraordinary things. The revolution is here and they’re highly effective. There’s joy. Is there still a Gilead? Yeah. But we celebrate what they accomplish and I think it’ll be very satisfying for the audience.”

Viewers, however, shouldn’t expect to get all their questions answered.

“We are going to begin a journey right away with The Testaments. That is still a world that has Gilead. But it’s a completely different point of view,” he teased. “We will satisfy and really deliver triumphantly for our audience who’s been with us through six seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale. They will want and be curious to see more and see where The Testaments goes.”

The Handmaid’s Tale returns on Tuesday, April 8, and new episodes will be streaming on Hulu.
