A Portland man allegedly tried to stab a driver before stealing their vehicle on Wednesday night.
Seth Mccallum, 33, has been charged with robbery, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, aggravated criminal mischief, theft by unauthorized use of property and interference with constitutional rights, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
Mccallum allegedly tried to stab the victim about 8:55 p.m. near Commercial and High streets in Portland.
He then allegedly got into the victim’s vehicle and drove a short distance, according to Nadeau.
Mccallum allegedly damaged the vehicle, including slashing two tires.
Nadeau said no one was harmed during the robbery.
When police arrived at the scene, witnesses pointed out Mccallum to officers, who took the knife-wielding man into custody, Nadeau said Thursday morning.
He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
