After a day of sunny skies through most of Maine on Wednesday, the weather forecast is looking more like winter on Thursday.
A winter weather advisory is in place for nearly all of the state through Thursday, excepting coastal areas south of Waldoboro.
Southern coastal regions can expect a period of light snow, with possible sleet and freezing rain Wednesday night, with temperatures warming above freezing overnight.
Mixed precipitation is expected through most of the state Thursday, with total snow and sleet accumulations between 3 to 5 inches, and around one-tenth of an inch of ice buildup.
As much as one-quarter inch of ice precipitation could build up among higher elevations.
Overnight temperatures Wednesday dip into the mid- to high 20s, warming to above-freezing temperatures on Thursday.
Thursday brings highs in the low- to mid 40s, with mild overnight lows.
So far, the forecast looks like Friday will bring back some spring temperatures, with highs in the low to mid 50s and sunny skies across most of the state.
