Princess Kate Middleton is celebrating the beauty of nature this U.K. Mother’s Day.

The Princess of Wales, 43, shared a video post via Instagram on Sunday, March 30, featuring images of Mother Earth in all her glory.

“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” Kate captioned the reel. “This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognize how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life. C.”

In the montage, Kate, wearing a patterned beige dress, touches a tree as the sunlight surrounds her. In another moment, someone who appears to be her husband, Prince William, walks through tall grass with their dogs at his heels. Their children — Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — are not featured.

Reexamining Kate Middleton’s Whirlwind 2024

The tribute to nature comes after Kate’s controversial 2024 Mother’s Day post, which she admitted to altering after keen observers noticed some odd details.

At the time, Kate shared a photo of herself sitting and smiling next to her three kids. As the picture made its way around the internet, fans noticed some oddities — including Charlotte and Louis appearing blurry, Kate’s zipper looking edited and her hair seemingly being airbrushed.

The controversy led to Kate putting out a statement the next day, in which she apologized for the photo.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” the princess wrote via social media. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.”

The statement did little to dispel the speculation that the couple was hiding something. Kate had undergone abdominal surgery in January 2024 and had retreated from the public eye during her recovery. At the time, she wasn’t scheduled to attend any public events until after Easter.

“There was a real sense then that they felt bruised by it,” royal author Robert Hardman told People in an interview published in March 2025. “It was treated like some great fraud.”

Soon after the editing dilemma, Kate revealed she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and would be receiving treatment over the next few months.

The Photoshop scandal — which was exacerbated when photo agencies started pulling the photos from circulation — and her health battle reportedly had both Kate and William, 42, feeling extremely overwhelmed.

“It was like being on a roller coaster for them … undergoing chemotherapy and trying to protect your children. It was like being in the middle of a tornado and not knowing when it was going to calm down,” Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth, told People.

After completing her chemotherapy treatments in September 2024, Kate shared via Instagram earlier this year that she was in remission.

“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she wrote in January. “My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
