Breaking Amish alum Mama Mary Schmucker has reportedly died following cancer complications. She was 65.

According to TMZ, who first reported the news on Friday, March 28, Mary died at her home in Pennsylvania after briefly being hospitalized earlier this week. Her son Andrew Schmucker reportedly confirmed the news of her death to the outlet.

The Return To Amish alum was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022. TMZ reported that the cancer had spread all over her body, prior to her passing.

Mary’s daughter-in-law Rebecca Schmucker revealed in November 2024 that she had been moved to hospice care amid her health battle.

Taking to social media at the time, Rebecca shared a photo of Mary via Instagram and urged Breaking Amish fans to send well wishes to her mother-in-law during the difficult time.

Rebecca also updated Mary’s fans on her condition in the post’s caption.

“I’m making a prayer request for mom. She’s not feeling good the last few weeks and can’t keep anything down and she’s having trouble eating,” Rebecca, 32, wrote. “She is on hospice now.”

She continued, “Her pain has been so bad and they are helping with that. If you could, flood her with positive messages and pray for her to be comfortable and pain free. Thank you!🙏🏼”

“Stay strong! Holding you in the light and wishing you a swift recovery,” wrote one follower, while another added, “Stay strong😢 the world is praying for you. We Love you❤”

Another fan wrote, “Praying you feel better. You’ve been such an anchor to your family and an example of unconditional love and support. ❤”

The reality TV star first revealed her health struggles in April 2022, sharing via Facebook that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer.

“I just want to give a little update,” Mary wrote at the time. “As you know I have colon cancer, and I am scheduled for surgery this month.”

While the surgery seemingly went well at first, Mary’s condition later deteriorated.

“When I did my surgery, they said they got all of the cancer. Two weeks later they called me and said, ‘You have to come in right away.’” Mary shared via Facebook in June 2022. “Now they tell me, I have stage three cancer, almost stage four. Chemo will not help on stage four. So, why should I even do chemo? But I’m not taking their word for it; I’m going for a second opinion.”
