A Hampden man has been sentenced for possessing pornographic images of young children.
U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann on Thursday sentenced Michael King, 67, to serve 10 years in prison to be followed by 10 years of supervised release and to pay $41,000 in restitution, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
In May 2023, the Maine State Police and U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents searched his home. During the search, King reportedly admitted to possessing child sex abuse material, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
The images depicted children younger than 12.
Police recovered hundreds of images from King’s laptop, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
King was arrested in September 2016 for possessing sexually explicit material involving children. At the time, King was an ed tech for the Glenburn School Department, but police said his actions didn’t involve students from the school system.
He was convicted in 2017 of possessing sexually explicit material of a child under age 12, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
King pleaded guilty to the new charges in October 2024.
