Supporting Cooper Flagg’s basketball career is a family affair.
The Duke University freshman and Newport native has had strong support from his mother, who gets “so dialed in” supporting both her sons Cooper and Ace Flagg on the basketball court. “We’re just so proud of him and the work that he’s put in,” Kelly Flagg said in an interview with the Bangor Daily News.
Now, we know Cooper’s parents aren’t the only one supporting his drive for the NCAA Championship title: His grandma’s a staunch supporter as well.
She recently appeared alongside Flagg in an AT&T commercial, where she can be seen wearing a custom sweater emblazoned with her grandson’s face as the two of them play bingo.
According to a recent report from USA Today, Flagg’s grandmother wore the same sweater when she showed up to cheer him on in the match against Mount St. Mary’s. Duke handily won the game, posting a 93-49 score.
Duke went on to overturn Baylor University with a score of 89-66 to earn a berth in the Sweet 16 NCAA Championship round.
The next game will be played at 9:39 p.m. Thursday, when the first-seeded Blue Devils take on fourth-seed Arizona University at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
