Noble High School’s Jamier Rose has been honored as Maine’s basketball Gatorade Player of the Year.
Rose, a senior guard, was also awarded the title of Mr. Basketball, an award that goes to the state’s top senior boys players. He secured his top player recognition while leading the South team to an overtime win in the boys AA/A/B game.
On Feb. 19, the Noble team overtook Kennebunk to win with a score of 66-57.
At the McDonald’s Senior All-Star Weekend, Rose said he was happy to be able to bring the Mr. Maine Basketball award back for both his team and his community.
“Nobody’s ever done it before at my school since basketball started, so it was nice to be the one to do it.”
