Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov has finally returned to Dubai after spending months in France about an investigation into illegal activities in the messaging platform.
French authorities have placed Durov under judicial supervision since August 24, 2024. This required him to report twice a week to the police, post a €5M bail, and remain indefinitely in the country.
In a statement on Telegram, the United Arab Emirates citizen Durov said that the process is still ongoing but he’s happy to be home. He also thanked his lawyers and team, and the investigative judges for making the release possible.
