Princess Kate Middleton celebrated St. Patrick’s Day after missing last year’s events while receiving cancer treatment.

Kate, 43, attended the Irish Guard’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Wellington Barracks, London, on Monday, March 17. The Princess of Wales was all smiles as she handed out bundles of shamrocks to members of the Irish Guard. As per tradition, the Princess of Wales wore an all-green ensemble, which included a long coat paired with a matching scarf and hat. She accessorized with a gold shamrock pin and emerald earrings.

Kate is Colonel of the Irish Guards, a role that she took over from her husband, Prince William, in 2022. The appearance marked Kate’s first St. Patrick’s Day event since 2023, when she and William, 42, both gave speeches honoring the passing of the significant role.

“It really is a true honour to be your Colonel,” Kate said at the time. “I am here to listen to you, to support you, and to champion you in all you do. This is a responsibility I do not take lightly.”

In 2024, Kate was notably absent from the parade. At the time, news of her cancer diagnosis had yet to be revealed.

The royal announced her health battle in a video message on March 22, 2024, after months of speculation over her absence from royal duties following a planned abdominal surgery earlier that year.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” Kate said at the time.

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment,” she added.

In January, Kate shared the good news that her cancer was officially in remission. She has since resumed full-time royal duties, including a recent appearance at the royal family’s Commonwealth Day service on March 10 and the Wales vs. England Six Nations rugby match with William on Sunday, March 16.
