A 66-year-old Medway woman was killed in a crash Friday afternoon in East Millinocket.
A child passenger in the car was seriously injured but is in stable condition, according to the East Millinocket Police Department.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Route 157 near Dolby Landfill Road when police said the driver of a Chevrolet sedan heading east crossed the center line into the oncoming lane of a Chevrolet 3500 service truck traveling west.
The driver of the truck attempted to avoid a head-on collision by moving into the opposite lane. The driver of the sedan then corrected and struck the Chevy 3500, causing it to roll over.
The sedan sustained extensive front-end damage, according to a Facebook post by the East Millinocket police department.
The sedan was driven by the Medway woman, who had two child passengers, ages 8 and 6.
The Chevrolet 3500 was driven by a 35-year-old Millinocket man.
All three occupants of the sedan were taken to Millinocket Regional Hospital. Two were then transferred to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor — the driver via LifeFlight of Maine helicopter and a child by ground ambulance. The other child was evaluated and released.
The road remained closed for several hours after the crash. Police said they would release more information when appropriate.
