Five people have been charged and another arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Joanne Penney in South Wales.

Ms Penney, 40, died after being shot on 9 March in Llys Illtyd, Talbot Green.

Five people, two women and three men, have now been charged in connection with her death.

They are: Marcus Huntley, 20, of Cardiff, charged with murder; Melissa Quailey-Dashper,39, of Leicester, charged with murder; Kistina Ginova , 21, of Leicestershire, charged with assisting an offender; Joshua Gordon, 27, of Leicestershire, charged with murder; and Tony Porter, 68, of Leicestershire, charged with murder and participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group.

They will appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Detectives also arrested a 32-year-old man in Suffolk on Friday evening, South Wales police said.

His was the seventh arrest – including the five charged – and a 42-year-old local man who was arrested on the day of the shooting but later released without charge.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ceri Hughes said: “Our team of detectives and specialist staff are continuing to piece together the circumstances behind Joanne’s tragic death and I would still urge anyone who has information, either about her death or what happened at the property in Llys Illtyd on Sunday evening, to come forward – the smallest piece of information could be of vital importance.

“I would like to thank the local community for their support of the investigation so far and to everyone who has spoken to us and provided information.”

Paying tribute to her, Ms Penney’s family said they were “devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved Joanne”.

“She was a daughter, mother, sister, and niece – loved deeply by all who knew her,” they said.

“Her kindness, strength, and love for her family will never be forgotten.”

The family asked for privacy as they “begin to process this unimaginable loss” and said they “appreciate the support and condolences from the community”.
