Changpeng Zhao isn’t exactly the stereotypical criminal. But the Binance founder did plea guilty, back in 2023, to violating anti-money-laundering (AML) laws. And as such, he is a convicted felon.
That’s a pesky thing to have hanging over you, even for the founder of the world’s largest centralized crypto exchange.
It’s no surprise that he might be looking for a way past it all, with reports emerging tying CZ to a potential presidential pardon from Donald Trump.

But even more potentially important is the accompanying rumor that the Trump family, through longtime associate Steve Witkoff, might be seeking to invest directly in Binance.
That would give Trump a personal stake in crypto’s long-term growth and adoption, in addition to his more obvious political one.
