Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are on the same page when it comes to raising their 4-year-old daughter, Khai.
“Zayn and I do our custody schedule months in advance,” Hadid, 29, shared in her April Vogue cover story, published Tuesday, March 11. “That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.”
Hadid noted that she and Malik’s coparenting relationship is filled with “love, and a feeling of camaraderie.” Their positive standing is something she says helps with being a parent in the public eye.
“There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything,” she explained. “And at the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story. What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other, and not just as coparents, but what we’ve been through together.”

Hadid and Malik, 32, dated on-and-off from 2015 to 2021 and welcomed Khai in September 2020. “Gigi and Zayn are loving parenthood and can’t get enough of their little girl,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2020. “Things are going really swimmingly between them and they’re both so happy. Gigi is so excited to be a new mom and has been appreciating every moment.”
Hadid has been romantically linked to her boyfriend, Bradley Cooper, since October 2023. A source exclusively told Us in February 2024 that Malik was “not happy with their relationship and never will be.” The former One Direction singer seemingly had a change of heart, as a second source exclusively told Us that May of last year that he is “completely supportive” of Hadid and Cooper’s romance.
“They went through a rough patch but have both matured and are focusing on their 3-year-old daughter,” another insider added. “It’s important to them that she grows up in a stable environment.”
Last year, Hadid and Malik both shared rare pics of Khai via Instagram in honor of her 4th birthday. “Khai- it is my life’s greatest joy and pride to be your mama!!!! Thank you for the four best years of my life,” Hadid captioned a carousel of photos of Khai’s Grogu-themed birthday celebration in September 2024. “You remind me to live life to the fullest every day, in the most simple & beautiful ways. Your possibilities are endless, my sweetest love !!!!”
Malik called Khai the “most important person in my life” in a birthday Instagram post of his own. “I love you more than words allow me to express, beyond proud to call you my daughter … grateful for every second I get to spend next to you, as you become the incredible person I know you already are,” he gushed. “Four years ago today my life changed forever and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you.”
In addition to sharing coparenting details, Hadid opened up about her and Cooper’s relationship in her Vogue cover story.
“I think just getting to the point where knowing what you want and deserve in a relationship is essential, and then to find someone that is in a place in their life where they know what they want and deserve … and you both do work separately to come together and be the best partner that you can be,” she told the outlet. “I just feel really lucky. Yeah, lucky’s the word.”
