The 2025 Oscars didn’t include the traditional performances of the Best Original Song nominees, but there were still plenty of music superstars on hand.

Doja Cat, Raye and Blackpink’s Lisa teamed up for a James Bond medley during the awards ceremony on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

After Margaret Qualley made a surprise appearance in a Bond-themed dance number, Lisa, 27, kicked things off with a rendition of “Live and Let Die” from the 1973 Bond movie of the same name.

Doja Cat, 29, then arrived to perform “Diamonds Are Forever” from the 1971 movie while dripping in jewels. To round it all out, Raye, 27, belted out a version of “Skyfall,” which served as the theme song to the 2012 film. (“Skyfall” won an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 2013 ceremony.)

2025 Oscars Red Carpet Fashion: From Ariana Grande to Halle Berry

Doja Cat, Lisa and Raye recently released their collaboration “Born Again,” but the official Oscars X account noted before the ceremony that the trio wouldn’t be singing that song.

“Not ‘Born Again!’ But still legendary. Stay tuned. 😉,” read a message posted Monday, February 24.

The announcement of the group’s performance came as something of a surprise to Oscar fans, as none of the three women have a connection to any of the movies up for awards this year. (Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were also invited to perform, but their appearances in Wicked and subsequent nominations made their inclusion less of a mystery.)

Complete 2025 Oscars Winners List

While Lisa, 27, is primarily known for her work with K-pop group Blackpink, she released her debut solo album, Alter Ego, on Friday, February 28. She recently made her acting debut on season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus as hotel employee Mook.

In 2022, Doja Cat, 29, contributed the song “Vegas” to the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which starred Austin Butler as the titular rock icon. The film was nominated for eight awards at the 2023 Oscars but came away empty-handed.

Before this year’s Oscar nominations were even announced, the Academy confirmed that none of the Best Original Song nominees would be performed at the ceremony.

Celeb Couples Who Are Both Oscar Winners

“We are thrilled to bring back our ‘Fab 5’ moments, where individual film artists recognize nominees,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang said in a January letter shared with membership. “Also, this year the Best Original Song category presentation will move away from live performances and will be focused on the songwriters. We will celebrate their artistry through personal reflections from the teams who bring these songs to life. All of this, and more, will uncover the stories and inspiration behind this year’s nominees.”

This year’s Best Original Song nominees are “El Mal” and “Mi Camino” from Emilia Pérez, “The Journey” from The Six Triple Eight, “Like a Bird” from Sing Sing and “Never Too Late” from Elton John: Never Too Late.
