A jury convicted a Prentiss man for a 2021 shooting that seriously injured two people.
Gary LeBlanc was convicted Wednesday of four counts of aggravated assault, two of which were counts for a firearm and two for serious bodily injury. The jury returned a verdict after a five-day trial in Penobscot County Superior Court.
LeBlanc, then 64, shot a woman who had been living with him as a tenant but was in the process of moving out. He also shot a man who knew the victim and was at the Prentiss home.
The then-34-year-old woman had been living with LeBlanc at his home on Averill Road and was in the process of moving out because of LeBlanc’s “odd” behavior. The woman told police that LeBlanc shot her when she went into the kitchen to get her cellphone that he had hidden.
The man LeBlanc shot had run into the woman at a local store and knew her because they had previously dated. He agreed to go to the house to help retrieve the cellphone.
LeBlanc’s sentencing is not yet scheduled.
