Once again, Sen. Susan Collins has expressed her “concern” over the state of our democracy. But concern without action is meaningless.
Collins has had ample opportunities to stand up for our country, yet time and again, I believe she has chosen party over principle, enabling the very crises she now claims to worry about.
It is not enough to wring hands and issue statements. I believe Collins helped create this mess. Now she needs to help fix it. That means standing up to extremism, defending our institutions, and using her position to take real, tangible action instead of offering just words.
Maine deserves leadership that doesn’t just express concern but fights for what is right. To me, if Collins truly values democracy, she must prove it with action — not just rhetoric.
