One lane of Broadway will be closed Monday for Interstate 95 work.
The inbound lane closure will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the city said in an alert on Monday morning.
Signs will alert southbound drivers about the need to merge.
In addition, one southbound lane on I-95 will be closed as well Monday during that time.
Those are the latest closures to accommodate ongoing interstate bridge work over I-95. That required closure of Broadway over several nights in June and July.
It’s the latest step toward the eventual replacement of the aging bridge carrying I-95 traffic over Broadway. The 152-foot steel girder bridge, built in 1960, is crossed about 50,000 times daily and is in “poor condition,” transportation officials have told the Bangor Daily News.
In recent years other I-95 bridges in Bangor have been replaced, including the Ohio Street bridge in 2020 and the Union Street bridge in 2016.
