Ace Flagg has added another state championship to an already impressive collection.
Flagg and his teammates at Greensboro Day School won the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A state championship on Saturday.
No. 2 seed Greensboro Day took down the top-ranked Concord Academy 46-39 to claim the state title.
Flagg now has championships in three states during his remarkable high school career.
His run of titles started at Nokomis High School in Newport. He and twin brother Cooper helped lead the Warriors as freshmen to a Maine Class A state championship in 2022, the first ever for the school.
Both Ace and Cooper transferred to basketball powerhouse Montverde Academy in Florida, where they helped win the Chipotle Nationals. Ace also won a Sunshine Independent Athletic Association state title as part of a prep team at Montverde, according to the school.
Ace transferred to Greensboro Day in North Carolina for his final year of high school. Cooper is currently playing college basketball at Duke University in North Carolina. Ace has committed to play at the University of Maine after high school.
“Ace is a winner. He’s had a major impact on the success of every team he’s played on dating back to his time at Nokomis to Montverde and now Greensboro Day,” said Matt MacKenzie, Ace and Cooper’s longtime player development coach based in Veazie.
“He’s now state champion in three states as well as a high school national champion and I look forward to seeing him continue to impact winning at the college level here in Maine next year,” MacKenzie continued about Ace.
Ace had 11 points and four rebounds for Greensboro Day in Saturday’s championship game, according to High School OT, which covers high school sports in North Carolina.
