Nicolas Cage was named in a new lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton for his alleged involvement in a physical fight with their son, Weston.
Fulton, 57, recently filed court documents that claimed Cage, 61, ignored Weston’s mental health concerns and enabled his reportedly troubling behavior, according to the petition obtained by Us Weekly.
Us Weekly confirmed in July 2024 that Weston, 34, was arrested for felony assault following an alleged incident the previous April. He was subsequently released on bond and pleaded not guilty to assault.
At the time, Fulton was reported to have suffered injuries in the apparent incident when she claimed to try to help Weston get help amid a “mental health crisis.”

Fulton now alleges that Cage had not intervened to try to assist their son. (Cage and Fulton split after Weston’s birth in 1990.)
“Weston has a long history of mental and psychological disorder and a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals,” Fulton’s court filing reads. “Nicolas has been aware of Weston’s history and nevertheless failed to take action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harming others.”
According to Fulton, the actor has also allegedly bailed Weston out of jail on several occasions and paid for the rent on their child’s Los Angeles condo. Fulton further accuses Cage of failing to make sure Weston received “necessary psychiatric” help and aided his “reckless” lifestyle.

“Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability,” Fulton’s lawsuit claims.
Cage, meanwhile, has denied the allegations.
“The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous,” Cage said in a statement to Us. “Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”
Fulton previously told Us that the incident with Weston stemmed from a verbal dispute that turned physical.
“On April 28th, 2024, around 5:30 p.m. I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help,” Fulton exclusively told Us in July 2024. “When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage.”
According to Fulton, Weston’s demeanor changed “within minutes.”

“I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries,” she claimed to Us. “Despite my desperate pleas to the responding police officers to detain him for a mental health evaluation, the police officers refused my request and neglected my urgent need for my medical attention.”
Fulton did not receive medical attention at the time, further stressing to Us that she was “deeply saddened and concerned” about her son’s “ongoing mental health crisis.”
“It is imperative that he receives the help he desperately needs,” Fulton stated.
Weston, meanwhile, told Us that same month that “there is no help [he] desperately” needs.
