Teddi Mellencamp and estranged husband Edwin Arroyave’s son, Cruz, spent part of his school day hoping for her brain surgery recovery to be successful.

“Cruz’s class made this for @teddimellencamp ❤,” Arroyave, 47, wrote via Instagram Story on Thursday, February 13.

In Arroyave’s photo, 10-year-old Cruz held up a heart-shaped card that read “Feel Better” and was signed by Cruz and all of his classmates.

In addition to Cruz, the estranged couple, 43, share daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4. (Arroyave is also father to eldest daughter Isabella from a past relationship.)

Mellencamp — who filed for divorce from Arroyave in November 2024 — underwent brain surgery on Wednesday, February 12, after doctors discovered a series of tumors. Arroyave and all of the pair’s children were at her bedside before she went under the knife.

As of Thursday, Mellencamp was slowly recuperating.

“So many people asking for updates. All I will say right now is surgery went well,” Arroyave wrote via his Instagram Stories later on Thursday. “That said, I’ve never seen @teddimellencamp in so much pain. She’s finally getting some needed rest.”

He added, “I know she is so grateful for the outpouring of love.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum had dealt with “severe and debilitating headaches” for several weeks before doctors found a diagnosis.

“Yesterday, the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization,” Mellencamp wrote in a Wednesday statement. “After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least six months.”

According to Mellencamp, two of the tumors needed to be surgically removed while other smaller ones could be “dealt with via radiation” at a later date.

“I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health,” Mellencamp concluded. “Thank you to everybody who has reached out and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”

As Mellencamp continues to recover, she will also take a hiatus from her podcasting duties. (She hosts “Two Ts in a Pod” with Tamra Judge and “Diamonds in the Rough” with Erika Jayne, respectively.)

“I just want our listeners to know that she will be taking a brief sabbatical to deal with some health stuff,” Judge, 57, tearfully said on the Wednesday episode of their “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “I’ll allow Teddi to tell her story when she’s back, but you all know how much she loves this podcast and wants nothing more than for us to continue on recording while she focuses on her health.”
