Ashley Tisdale is looking to scale back how much of her life she shares with fans online.
“As the world is getting loud, I find myself wanting to share less and less,” the actress, 39, shared in a Friday, February 7, Instagram Story, per E! News. “Maybe it’s because I don’t feel I can contribute in my positive way when everything feels so negative.”
Tisdale went on to note that her decision was motivated by “trying to protect my peace while navigating life with work and two kids.” The High School Musical star shares her daughters Jupiter, 3, and Emerson, 5 months, with her husband, Christopher French.
“I’ve been loving putting my phone down and being in the moment,” Tisdale added. “Social media is such a blessing when you want to connect with everyone but can also be so noisy when used with judgment and assumptions.”

Tisdale is no stranger to being candid with fans via social media. Last month, she opened up about how her mental health was affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. “There are times in life due to my mental health where I feel very alone even when I’m out to dinner with friends,” she wrote in a January 11 Instagram Story message. “This experience has shown me how many amazing people I have in my life and I am far from alone.”
She continued: “The amount of people checking in with each other is so amazing. You realize in dark moments you have each other. The human connection is not lost. Shout out to the mom group that’s there in the highs and lows.”
Tisdale also showed her support for those affected by the wildfires by donating $100,000 to the LAFD Foundation through her lifestyle company, Frenshe. “This contribution honors the incredible first responders who have been working tirelessly to battle the flames and protect our lives,” the brand wrote via Instagram on January 15. “Every single one of you is a true hero. Thank you.”
Tisdale has continued to post on social media since announcing she would be stepping back from her phone screen. “This time last year 
,” she captioned a sweet Instagram throwback photo with her daughter Jupiter on Sunday, February 9. One day later, Tisdale shared adorable snaps of her dog and daughter Emerson via her Instagram Story.

Tisdale made headlines for sharing a funny story about her eldest daughter on the “Breaking Beauty” podcast, revealing that Jupiter was confused after watching High School Music for the first time. “She thought Zac Efron was her dad,” the former Disney Channel star shared on January 15. “She’s like, ‘Daddy!’ I was like, ‘No, no, no.’ Just because they have dark hair that is not Daddy.”
Tisdale also noted that Jupiter enjoyed watching her walk the Wicked premiere red carpet late last year. “She’s like, ‘I gotta see Mommy on the carpet, I gotta see Mommy on the carpet,’” she said. “That’s the most exciting thing to her, is that I’m on a carpet at the Wicked premiere, which I have nothing to do with. It’s so funny. So she’s just so proud to see me on that. It’s really cute.”
