Mainers looking to fly out to the Midwest this year will have a wallet-friendly option close to home.
Breeze Airways announced Wednesday that it will offer nonstop flights to Columbus, Ohio, from the Portland International Jetport beginning May 2. That seasonal service will be available on Mondays and Fridays.
“This is another great announcement from Breeze Airways for the Jetport,” said Paul Bradbury, the jetport’s director. “Over the past two-and-a-half years, Breeze has continued to grow their presence in Portland, connecting Maine to many of our top unserved destinations. We are thrilled to have this new service to Central Ohio and thank Breeze for the continued investment in our market.”
In addition to nonstop flights to Columbus, Breeze also announced flights to Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, with just one stop and no change of plane. That service will be available on Thursdays and Sundays beginning May 1.
Wednesday’s announcement expands the slate of flights Breeze Airways now offers out of Portland.
Over the past two years, Breeze Airways has added seasonal destinations that include Charleston, South Carolina; Fort Meyers, Florida; Islip, New York; Norfolk, Virginia; Orlando, Florida; Pittsburgh; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Sarasota, Florida; Tampa, Florida; and Westchester County Airport in New York.
The Portland airport is the state’s busiest. It saw record traffic in 2024, with 2.4 million passengers, surpassing 2023’s 2.2 million, according to data posted on the Portland International Jetport’s website.
