Police closed the Maine Mall in South Portland on Wednesday after a shooting that left one person injured.
In a Facebook post shortly after 4 p.m., the South Portland Police Department said it was investigating an “active situation” and asked the public to avoid the area.
In a statement released soon after, the department said officers are “searching the Maine Mall for an individual suspected of shooting another individual,” adding that they believe it was an isolated incident and do not believe the public is at risk.
The department said one person was brought to Maine Medical Center, and their condition was not known.
