The downtown Bangor parking ban will remain in effect Wednesday night.
Between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday there will be no parking on any downtown street, according to an alert sent out by the city.
Any vehicles left on the street may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense, the city said Wednesday morning.
That ban also applies to most downtown parking lots.
This will allow crews to remove snow and ice from the roads left over from the storm that started Sunday night and lingered into Monday night.
The city warned that the downtown parking ban could extend for several days depending on how much snow crews can remove each shift. Up to 6 inches of snow is forecast for Thursday, and another storm may bring even more snow over the weekend.
People can park between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. in the lower level of the Columbia Street Parking Deck and the lower level of the Pickering Square Parking Garage on the Kenduskeag Plaza side, as well as between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the rear section of the upper Abbot Square parking lot on Harlow Street.
Outside downtown, people can park on the street without fear of being ticketed or towed.
