The suspect in the killing of a Virginia man whose body was found in Edgecomb last month has been returned to Maine after he was arrested in California.
Luke Krott, of Edgecomb, has been charged with the killing of 34-year-old William “Nate” Robinson of Austinville, Virginia, according to Maine State Police. Robinson’s body was found in a trash barrel at the Schmid Preserve on Old County Road in Edgecomb on Dec. 3, 2024, police have said.
However, the alleged murder actually happened about 50 miles away in the town of Turner, according to Barbara Cardone, a spokesperson for the Maine Judicial Branch. For that reason, his court case is being handled in Androscoggin County.
Details on the charges against Krott have been impounded, and little other information has been released in the case. Earlier this month, state police said that they found the evidence linking Krott to Robinson’s death during a Dec. 12 search of a residence at 57 Conant Rd. in Turner.
Krott had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb but left the state, according to police. He was found earlier this month on a sailboat at a marina in San Diego, California, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said at the time.
Moss said Krott arrived back in Maine late Jan. 23 or early Jan. 24. He is currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.
Krott is currently charged with murder, according to a court complaint, Cardone said.
