Two icons of 1980s rock are set to make their first-ever appearances in Bangor this summer.
Billy Idol and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are set for a Tuesday, Aug. 26 concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater on the Bangor waterfront. Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster this Friday.
Billy Idol had a string of massive hits throughout the 1980s, including singles like “Rebel Yell,” “Dancing With Myself,” “White Wedding” and many others. Joan Jett, after playing with the band the Runaways, scored big in the same era with her second band, the Blackhearts, with songs like “I Love Rock and Roll” and “Bad Reputation.”
It’s the latest addition to the 2025 season at the Maine Savings Amphitheater. Other shows announced so far include Avril Lavigne on May 25, comedian Matt Rife on July 12, Shania Twain on July 22, Chicago on July 31, Bret Michaels and Vince Neil on Aug. 2, the Goo Goo Dolls and Dashboard Confessional on Aug. 5, Melissa Etheridge and the Indigo Girls on Aug. 30 and Papa Roach and Rise Against on Sept. 20. More concerts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
