BANGOR — All week long Northern Light Health recognized the nominees, honorable mentions, and winners of this year’s True North awards. True North recognizes individuals and teams whose behaviors and accomplishments exemplify a profound dedication to the Northern Light Health promise and commitments. At the medical center three of our own shone bright.
The Seeing the Individual Award winner is Jill Sisco RN,CCRN-CSC, staff nurse, ICU. The Seeing the Individual awardee focuses on the needs of each person. The awardee recognizes the presence of both physical and social determinants that influence the health and well-being of our patients, and that outstanding care requires not only addressing the symptom, but also the root cause.

Making Access Easy Award honorable mention goes to Theodore Curtis, MD, pediatric ophthalmologist, Northern Light Eye Care. The Making Access Easy awardee makes health and care accessible and straightforward to the people we serve. The awardee proactively mitigates barriers to remove distractions, enabling the entire care team, including patient and family, to focus time and energy on active participation in the care experience.

Raising Quality Award honorable mention goes to Rena Toomey, BSN,RN-BC,CRNI, staff nurse and clinical practitioner, Clinical Education. The Raising Quality awardee drives quality improvement through innovation, teamwork, and efficiency. The awardee establishes connections to foster collaborative learning and creative solutions.
