Milder temperatures are ahead for Maine this weekend, before an arctic blast next week brings the coldest temperatures in about two years.

Get ready for multiple nights below zero next week!

Next week will bring the coldest temps seen in quite some time to Maine. Highs will be in the teens and single digits and lows will drop below zero. Credit: CBS 13

Thursday will be cold, but mostly calm. Highs will be in the 20s again but with a lot less wind. Sunny skies in the morning will give way to cloudy skies for the afternoon.

Sunshine and slightly warmer temps are in store for Friday. Highs will be around freezing.

An approaching arctic front will bring the chance for rain and snow showers Saturday afternoon and evening.

Highs will be near 40, so outside the mountains mostly rain is expected. Overall precipitation amounts look light.

Sunday will be our last mild day for a while.

Highs will again be in the mid-30s, though temps will fall into the afternoon.

A storm will pass to our south Sunday night into early Monday. At this point, it looks like a miss for significant snowfall in Maine, but minor amounts of snow are possible especially along the coastline.

The big story of next week will be the arctic cold. The coldest temps of the season take over Monday and last at least through midweek.

Wind chills will be well below zero for much of next week. They will bottom out in the minus 15 to minus 20 range by next Wednesday. Credit: CBS 13

Highs will be in the teens and low below zero, and wind chills could approach 20 below in much of the state. This will be the coldest air since February 2023.
