Country music singer Randall King and his fiancée, Brittany Warthan, are preparing for the joys of parenthood.
“I’m about to be a father,” King exclusively revealed to Us Weekly. “I am responsible for a life. I’m responsible for my family. It’s definitely changed my perspective and it’s changed the angles of my songwriting. There’s a happiness in my writing now that wasn’t in my music forever.”
In celebration of the big news, King and Warthan — who is also a fellow singer/songwriter — teamed up for a heartfelt duet titled “Baby Steps.” The track celebrates the little moments that go into building a relationship, each culminating in the next chapter of their lives as they prepare to become parents.
“It takes you through pretty much our whole relationship and how we started, where we were,” King shared when explaining the song’s concept. Warthan added, “We’ve really been through a whole lot, and the last year has been the most growth for us.”

Before participating in a maternity photo shoot with Evan De Stefano, Warthan surprised King by sharing her pregnancy news during a game of Uno.
At first, the country singer thought he was playing an innocent game that would be filmed for social media content. What came next was a big reveal that was captured on film.
“These Uno cards have blank spots where you write in your own rule,” King recalled. “Sometimes you drop that card and it’s a blank white spot. You just make up a rule. … She drops this card. She had written on the card, and I was like, ‘That’s weird. What’s this rule going to be?’ It said, ‘Draw four. The baby’s on the way.’”
Ever since learning about the news, King and Warthan have been envisioning what life will look like as they raise their child.
Warthan hopes her baby has “confidence” and learns to be “fearless.” As for King, he hopes his first child will display “strong-willed determination.”
“That’s what’s driven me my entire life,” he explained to Us. “If you want it, you go get it. I want my kid to have that same drive.”
As the couple continues making new music and traveling for various performances, both artists can’t help but look to some familiar faces in country music for inspiration.
King has respect for Norma and George Strait’s love story and for being “incredible people with strong morals who raised great families.”
Meanwhile, Warthan has respect for Jason and Brittany Aldean’s ability to have successful careers and family life. “They might have it all,” she shared. “Through my eyes and watching them, they have so many experiences with their children while Jason is still killing it, and Brittany started a couple businesses and does a bunch of things.”

Before their baby arrives in the spring, both Warthan and King are confident they have what it takes to handle life as Mom and Dad. As Warthan reminded Us, “God doesn’t give you anything that you can’t handle.”
“Randall stands really strong in what he believes, and I just think it’s going to be a great experience,” Warthan shared. “I don’t think he’s going to fall short at all. I strongly believe that.”
King added, “I know she’s gonna be a great parent and a great godly woman to lead our kid into salvation. We’re gonna raise our kiddo in Jesus and country music.”
