EigenLayer, a major Ethereum restaking protocol, is set to launch its rewards v2 upgrade in January 2025. This marks its first improvement proposal under the new EigenLayer Governance Process. The update focuses on helping external protocols, called Actively Validated Services (AVSs), by allowing reward distribution based on validator performance. Validators can also set their fees, improving flexibility and economic appeal. The upgrade includes batch reward claiming, reducing gas fees significantly. EigenLayer, securing $19 billion in collateral, enables ETH stakers to reuse tokens for additional revenue.
