Billy Eichner’s story about his first run-in with Travis Kelce is nothing short of comedy gold.
During an appearance on the Thursday, December 5, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor and comedian, 46, recalled attending Madonna’s 2024 Oscars afterparty. “I walk in, and [there’s] a lot of famous people there, obviously. And the first people I see standing in the center of the party are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce,” he shared.
Having not met either celeb before, Eichner decided to stay out of their way — until he was approached by Kelce, 35. “All of a sudden, I feel a very strong, bro-y pat on my back,” he teased. “In a very loud, booming voice, in a house full of the most famous people in the world, Travis Kelce looks at me and goes, ‘Jimmy on the motherf—ing Street! I love you, man!’”
Kelce was attempting to shout-out Eichner’s series Billy on the Street, but didn’t get the name quite right. “He’s beaming, he’s so happy to see me. … He said it with such confidence that I could not bring myself to correct him,” the Bros star confessed.

Eicher continued: “He’s Travis Kelce. He’s huge. He’s standing there with Taylor Swift. I didn’t know what to do. And then, throughout the night, he kept seeing me. We kept, like, crisscrossing each other, and he kept fist-bumping me. Now, I don’t want to stereotype gay men, but I don’t ordinarily communicate via fist bump, but I kept doing it.”
Overall, Eicher called his interaction with Kelce “lovely,” before joking, “He has an open invitation to appear with me on Jimmy on the Street anytime.”
Eichner wrapped up his Oscars afterparty story by sharing what he would have said to Swift, 34, if they got the chance to chat at the event. “It would have been funny if I turned to her and said, ‘Oh, my god. Sara Bareilles, I love you!’” he quipped, with host Jimmy Kimmel adding that Swift “probably would have been complimented.”
Kelce and Swift, who began dating in the summer of 2023, stepped out for a date night at Madonna and Guy Oseary’s coveted Oscars celebration, known as The Party, on March 10. Though the couple weren’t photographed together at the event, Kelce was seen holding American Fiction writer and director Cord Jefferson’s Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar in an Instagram snap.

“Cord said he was gonna write a movie during covid then all this happened,” producer Tommy Alter captioned a March 14 Instagram slideshow, the first slide of which featured the photo of him with Kelce and Jefferson, 42, inside the party.

When The Eras Tour wraps on Sunday, December 8, Swift will take a well-deserved break before beginning to work on her next album — and potentially a 2026 tour.
“She has such a great experience on Eras. She really wants to do it again,” the insider told Us earlier this month. “She loves being with all her fans; it inspires her. … Things can change. A lot of it hinges on what happens over the next year with Travis. She’s told her team to give her one year to see how things go in her personal life.”
