The three deputies who shot a man Wednesday during a confrontation in Harrison have been identified.
Arthur Lefebvre, 57, called for assistance Wednesday, saying he was armed and threatening to harm himself, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Lefebvre disconnected the call before identifying himself, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday night.
When deputies arrived at the Hawk Ridge Road home about 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, Lefebvre was uncooperative and then allegedly shot at the deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.
Knowing Lefebvre had family inside the home who deputies believed to be at risk, the officers continued trying to communicate with him but weren’t successful.
Lefebvre later exited the home and allegedly confronted police with a gun before three deputies shot him, the sheriff’s office said.
Lefebvre was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was treated for serious injuries not considered life-threatening.
The deputies who shot at Lefebvre have been identified as: Detective Nathan Therriault, Detective Tyler Monsees and Patrol Deputy Brandon Pelton, the sheriff’s office said Thursday afternoon.
The deputies have been placed on administrative leave, as is standard procedure. The Maine attorney general’s office is investigating the shooting, as is standard procedure whenever any law enforcement in the state use deadly force.
