Jason Tartick accidentally found his neighbor bleeding after suffering a fall.
“I am a little shaken up right now. I just came to take a phone call and my next door neighbor was on the ground by his car,” Tartick, 36, explained in an Instagram video posted on Monday, November 11. “I guess he had been out there for an hour and he has stage IV bone cancer and he couldn’t get up.”
Tartick was able to get his neighbor help. “I got him up and he had blood on his head so I called 911,” he said. “They are taking him now but he is so frail right now.”
Tartick elaborated in the caption, writing, “Praying for Bert. I also never take calls outside, just randomly went out there for a call. Thank God I did.” Tartick later reflected on how “rattled” he felt by the situation.

“So I decided I would call the hospital to figure out which one he went to. On the third try I figured out which emergency room so I came and just say him,” he detailed. “The thought process is I think he lives by himself and he was in such tough condition.”
Tartick was surprised to find out that his neighbor didn’t have any immediate family. “I was like, ‘I have to let someone from his family know.’ And he said he has no one,” he continued. “He is getting X-rays on his leg because it might be broken. The nurse said he is not going anywhere in a while. Good news is he is in a safe space.”
The most recent update from Tartick revealed that his neighbor broke his hip. Since his neighbor didn’t leave a contact number for any loved ones, the former Bachelorette contestant received a call from the hospital. Tartick asked his social media followers for help after he was asked to make a decision about his neighbor’s medical care due to cognitive issues.

“Does anyone out there know what you’re supposed to do here? Or if there’s something I could do. Praying for Bert,” he wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, November 12. “I wonder if there’s a reliable not for profit out there that can handle these situations.”
Tartick has used his platform to document his life after he was a contestant on season 14 of The Bachelorette. He later found love with season 11 Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe, whom he started dating in late 2018. After four years with Tartick, the former couple called off their engagement in August 2023.
Bristowe subsequently sparked romance rumors with Tayshia Adams‘ ex-fiancé, Zac Clark. Tartick, meanwhile, moved on with TikTok personality Kat Stickler but their romance fizzled out after six months of dating.

“I am sad to share that Kat and I are no longer together,” Tartick wrote via Instagram Story in October. “It’s fair to say that I love hard with all my heart and fall fast. Sometimes in life that works out and other times, it doesn’t. This time it didn’t.”
Tartick noted he will “be rooting” for Stickler’s “happiness,” adding, “Kat has brought me so much happiness and light, she brought out parts of me I never knew existed. I will forever be grateful for her and, of course [her daughter] sweet MK. This chapter closes amicably, and another opens.”
