Northern Light Health’s Bangor walk-in care clinic is again open six days a week.
The clinic on Union Street returned to its previous hours after about four months of operating only four days a week. Walk-in care was closed every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 26 to Oct. 24.
It is now open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Tuesday and closed Wednesday, the health system’s Marketing and Communications Director Amy Kenney said.
Returning the clinic to operating six days a week is a rare expansion of services for the health care system that is facing a $100 million deficit, credit rating downgrades and had recently reorganized upper management, with three people leaving the company.
Northern Light was able to hire another staff member which allowed them to expand their hours, Kenney said.
“Our priority is ensuring patients can access the care they need, when they need it,” she said.
The return to six days a week happened shortly before the Penobscot Community Health Center closed its walk-in clinic. Patients can only be seen by appointment at that clinic as of Nov. 1.
