BREWER — In recognition of Veterans Day next week, Northern Light Health proudly supports veterans and their families through collaborations that foster career opportunities in healthcare. By partnering with organizations such as Hire A Vet, Boots2Roots, and Hiring Our Heroes, Northern Light Health is showing our commitment to the inclusion of veterans within our workforce.
Every fall, the Hire A Vet campaign unites the state of Maine with the goal of hiring 100 veterans and their family members in just 100 days. This initiative, in collaboration with the Maine Department of Labor, sees the Northern Light Health Talent Acquisition Team participating in four in-person events to connect veterans with fulfilling career pathways. Northern Light Health plays an integral role on the planning committee for this essential campaign.
Through its partnership with Boots2Roots, Northern Light Health encourages veterans and transitioning service members to establish their lives and careers in Maine. The Talent team connects with veterans to explore various healthcare career opportunities, successfully hiring five veterans in fiscal year 2024 through this collaboration.
Additionally, Northern Light Health engages with the Hiring Our Heroes program, which provides fellowships for service members in their final 12 weeks of active duty. This initiative offers critical hands-on experience in the civilian workforce, helping to ease the transition from military life. Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital hosted the inaugural corporate fellowship in spring/summer 2024, resulting in the successful placement of a fellow who joined Northern Light Health as a full-time employee in September.
