Patrick Mahomes Sr Begins Jail Sentence for DWI Conviction
Patrick Mahomes Sr.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. has begun serving his jail sentence for a drunk driving conviction earlier this year.

Mahomes Sr., 54, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was booked Tuesday, October 22 at the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, Us Weekly can confirm.

He is scheduled to serve a 10-day sentence in accordance with a plea agreement Mahomes Sr. reached in August. Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty after he was arrested in February on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

During a routine traffic stop for expired registration, Mahomes Sr. admitted to cops that he had been drinking and an open beer container was found in his vehicle. It marked at least the sixth time Mahomes Sr. has been arrested for driving while intoxicated.

In body cam footage from the latest incident obtained by TMZ on Friday, October 18, Mahomes Sr. worried his arrest would impact his son’s performance in the Super Bowl, which was going down eight days later.

“My son is getting ready to play in the f—ing Super Bowl,” Mahomes Sr. could be seen begging cops. “I am not drunk, I promise you. I’ve had some drinks, but he can’t have this right now. This can’t happen.”

He continued, “I promise you, I don’t say a lot of stuff about nothing. I’ve had a couple of drinks, yes I have, but I am not drunk. Dude, seriously? We don’t have stars from around here. I’m very, very knowledgeable and capable. Dude, I can get somebody to drive me, but we can’t have this.”

In the video, Mahomes Sr. can be seen wearing a “Kansas City vs. Everybody” sweatshirt as he struggles with field sobriety tests.

After eventually being placed in the back of a squad car, Mahomes Sr. continued to to plead with officers while referencing his famous son.

“Dude. This is crazy. My son is getting ready to play in the f—ing Super Bowl and I’m doing interviews,  five or six a day. And then, now, this s—‘s going to be on the news which is going to f— with him, and it’s probably going to f— him up.”

Mahomes Sr. added, “He probably won’t win the Super Bowl. But that’s fine. If that’s what y’all want to do, that’s good.”

Hours after his arrest, Mahomes Sr. was released on bond and managed to attend Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, where his son and the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime for their second-consecutive title.
