Footage shows hundreds of people queueing in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza as they await evacuation.

Crowds can be seen surrounded by debris as they queue to flee to the southwest of the territory.

It comes as medics and residents told Reuters news agency that troops rounded up men and ordered women to leave the camp.

The video, filmed today by an Israeli soldier and verified by Sky News, appears to show men being split up from women and children as ID cards are inspected. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have been contacted for comment.

A wide shot of the area shows the level of destruction resulting from Israel’s operations in northern Gaza over the past few weeks.

Earlier, an Israeli airstrike on a house in Jabalia killed five people and wounded several others, according to medics.

Israel has claimed it has recently stepped up operations in the north of Gaza in a bid to stop Hamas militants from regrouping.

Medics at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza told Reuters that Israeli troops stormed a school and detained men before setting it ablaze. The fire reached hospital generators and caused a power outage, they added.

Health officials said they had refused orders by the Israeli army to evacuate the three hospitals in the area or leave the patients unattended.

Troops remained outside the hospital but did not enter, they said, according to Reuters.

The UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA said Israeli authorities were preventing humanitarian missions from reaching areas in the north of the Palestinian enclave with critical supplies, including medicine and food.

“According to reports, people attempting to flee are getting killed, their bodies left on the street,” UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini said on X.

The Israeli military said over the past day, troops had dismantled militant infrastructure and tunnel shafts and killed fighters in the Jabalia area.

More than 42,500 people have been killed in Gaza since the war broke out, according to its Hamas-run health ministry. It followed Hamas’s attack on 7 October last year, which saw around 1,200 people killed in southern Israel.
