Sydney Sweeney Hilariously Responds to College Football Fan's Sign Asking for Her Number

Sydney Sweeney will not be calling the University of Oregon’s football mascot back despite certain pleas.

Ahead of the Oregon Ducks’ Saturday, October 12, football game against the Ohio State University Buckeyes, High Potential star Kaitlin Olson was tapped as the guest ESPN picker. Olson, an Oregon alum herself, had been discussing her excitement for the game when the Ducks’ mascot photobombed her on-camera.

“Sydney Sweeney, call me back,” the mascot’s sign read.

Sweeney, 27, saw the televised plea and subtly responded via her Instagram Story.

Celebs Who Are Massive College Football Fans

“Sorry. Changed my number haha,” the Euphoria star jokingly captioned a screenshot of the broadcast.

It is not known whether Sweeney watched the game, but Olson, 49, was enthused about the day.

“Guys, this is my college. That’s right, this is my place,” Olson quipped, referring to the University of Oregon. “I love it here. I went to college here, my family went to college here, I lost my virginity here — sorry about that, Dad — [and] my fake I.D. was taken away [at the local bar] … Oregon Ducks, all the way! Oregon Ducks, all day long.”

She added, “I’m picking Oregon. I don’t bet against primetime, and speaking of primetime, my new show High Potential is on primetime ABC Tuesdays at 10.”

Olson’s prediction was ultimately correct as the Ducks beat the Buckeyes 32-31.

Olson, best known for her role on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, now leads ABC’s crime drama High Potential. She was initially wary about showing episodes to her husband, Rob McElhenney. (Olson and McElhenney have been married since 2008 and share two sons.)

“We are both very critical of entertainment and projects. I was very nervous to show it to him,” Olson exclusively told Us Weekly at the September premiere of High Potential in Los Angeles. “He loved it. I wouldn’t be lying if I didn’t say that was a giant relief.”

She continued at the time, “When he loved it as well, I was like, ‘OK, we’ve got something great here.’ Honestly, [I] did not want anything to do with an hour-long drama at all, but when I read it, I loved it so much. I thought the character was amazing. I love a well-written, fully intriguing crime drama.”

Olson further told Us that her High Potential character, Morgan, was written beautifully.

“I just was so excited that at the heart of it is this beautiful character who’s so strange and unique and complex and so uniquely herself and unapologetically a wonderful mom,” she gushed to Us.

High Potential airs Tuesdays on ABC at 10 p.m. ET.
