Paula Abdul Shares Health Update After Postponing Tour
Paula Abdul.

Paula Abdul is sharing an update on her health after canceling her Straight Up! To Canada Tour last month.

“I’m recovering well. I have already had one procedure done,” Abdul, 62, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Dancers Against Cancers’ 10th Annual Gala of Stars Awards on Wednesday, October 9. “I have one more to go, but I’m guaranteed eight weeks I’ll be humpty dumpty back together again.”

While attending the event at The Beverly Hilton in California, Abdul said she “of course” plans to tour again.

“I had the best time just coming off this tour and there’s still the rest of the world to see and to be able to perform in front of,” she told Us.

Abdul announced in September that she had to cancel her tour due to undisclosed injuries. Her Straight Up! To Canada Tour was scheduled to begin on September 25 in Victoria, British Columbia and set to conclude on October 26. The tour included one night in Fargo, North Dakota on October 12. She was also slated to perform one U.S. show in Anchorage, Alaska ahead of the tour.

“It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained,” Abdul wrote via social media at the time. “In an effort to keep going, I’ve received targeted injections that will allow me temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story.”

The ’80s pop superstar and former American Idol judge underwent “multiple consultations” with her doctors to explore “all available options.”

“I’ve been advised that one of my injuries requires a minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time, therefore it will prohibit me from proceeding with the Straight Up! To Canada Tour as well as the dates in Alaska and North Dakota,” she wrote.

Abdul continued the post with a message for her fans. “I want to extend my deepest apologies to all my amazing fans in Canada and the US, you mean the world to me and this truly breaks my heart,” she wrote. “I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love and connection we always share when we’re together.”

She wrote, “I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”

Abdul assured fans that refunds would be available “at your point of purchase” before signing the message, “Thank you for your love, your patience, and your understanding during this time. With all my love and gratitude, XoP.”
